Black and White Beach Life
All of the photos were taken at Filey Bay on the North Yorkshire Coast where I created my first Art collection of Rock Balancing. With the Black and White collection I wanted to capture the raw beauty of this place and display how vast it is whilst showing it's dark, bleak and minimal side. The beach is 5 miles long and sits on a huge bay, when the tide is out, it's 400 meters wide. The atmosphere, light, energy, landscape and characters change on a daily basis. The pictures were shot over a 3 month period up until September 2022. I had to work and be patient with the tide, weather, and people. I took over 10,000 photos, 150 miles of walking, and 80 hours of editing to get down to my final few. All the characters in the photos are everyday people, walking on the beach. I knew none of them, and often had to 'zig-zag' around, pretending not to take their picture. I hope you enjoy them
